More Over Coffee

The brief arrived as a conversion: an existing confectionery and grocery store on a busy street, to be reimagined as a café. The functional store was relocated to the upper floor. The ground floor was handed over entirely to the experience of being there: to sitting, talking, looking out.
The design followed a Japanordic sensibility: quiet, warm, handmade. Monotone lime plaster walls throughout, interrupted only by the staircase- a scalloped white structure with hand-wrought iron balusters that became the signature element of the space. Custom ceiling installations of thread art, made by local artisans, suspended from above. Cane-backed chairs. Terrazzo flooring with a pattern drawn from traditional tile archives.
