The client wanted a family space where one can enjoy the beauty of nature while sipping a cup of coffee or while reading a book. The whole terrace is kept white and balanced by the greens and perennial plants!
The jalis which were used as Roshandans in old homes are used as screens in this terrace design.
We chose a subtle palette for the whole wall with a contrasting staircase. The inspiration was derived from nature- the delicate white lilies and traditional Indian elements of lippan work, which was a native practice in Rajasthan. These art panels are custom-made. The 28”x28” panels are done by local artisans with a mirror in the Center.
Floral panel wall art such as this Jaipur mural reached its peak in early 17th-century Mughal buildings. The fashion then spread to the Rajput courts of Rajasthan. The plant was first sketched on paper, and then its outline was pierced with a stylus to create a stencil. This was pronounced over with a cloth bag of soot, transferring a dotted outline onto the plaster.
