The Courtyard House
Completed project- 2023
Area: 6130 Sq.ft
Photography: Suryan and Dang.
The courtyard house is designed to address the issues of a city home where air circulation and natural light are often neglected. We wanted the home to be green and it faces inwards towards the lively courtyard!

There was an unspoken agreement that
the home had to be simple and quaint. The courtyard house is a flair of natural light
pouring in, with the rustic regional materials and construction techniques used. The courtyard is a space of solitude for the family. The courtyard house is welcomed by the well-landscaped garden GARDEN AND PARKING SPACE SIZE 42.8% of the ground cover and a parking area of 2 cars for the inhabitants. The overall form of the structure is well juxtaposed with the brick jail patterns and varied balcony spaces.
The foyer area connects the formal drawing room and the private living room area. The formal drawing room embraces the front part of the site and overlooks the main garden. Here we have used the traditional jack arch roofing system where arches are formed in the roof itself supported by centering resulting in less use of reinforcement.
The master bedroom is sumptuously spacious where natural light seeps into the space.
A balcony with wooden sliders on one side has been provided which also becomes a part of the main facade.
