Aanganwadi
An Aanganwadi is the first point of contact for maternal healthcare and early child development in India. The majority of these centers operate in remote villages or in pockets of land occupied by the urban poor and cater to the children and women from these villages.
B A S I C S Studio got an opportunity from the Govt. of Chhattisgarh to make a standard module for the same.
Our conception for the opportunity:
• Optimising functionality of spaces.
• Adapting the solution to local social contexts i.e. typologies of rural, urban, and tribal communities with specific pre-school education and care requirements.
Building Process:
Volunteers work in close collaboration with the local communities and employ local builders and craftspeople throughout the process using mostly recycled and locally available materials to create simple, beautiful spaces for children to learn. Through the development of long-term and meaningful relationships the maintenance of existing schools and development of future opportunities is ensured.
